There may be Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Georgia and Russia
There may be consultations held between the Foreign Ministries of Georgia and Russia.
The information was spread after the meeting of the Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Georgian Interests Section of the Swiss Confederation in Russia, Givi Shugharov and the Director of the 4th Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States at the Foreign Ministry of Russia, Alexei Pavlovski. The meeting was held under the initiative of the Georgian side.
According to the information spread by the Foreign Ministry, the Georgian side proposed that the Russian Foreign Ministry would hold consultations with the attendance of the Swiss party in order to provide the regulatory operation of the Interest Sections of Russia and Georgia at the Embassy of Swiss Confederation.
At the meeting Givi Shugharov initiated the issue of the operations of the Interest Section of Georgia. It is known, that the section had some problems regarding which the Council service for citizens was hampered for two days, during August 2-4. (Interpressnews)
Mikheil Saakashvili lauds Batumi as better than south of France
“There is no such place in Nice and Cannes, as that is here in Batumi”- declared the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili after the opening of an Opera theatre in Batumi. According to Saakashvili the opening of the opera is the crowning of everything that has been done in Batumi recently.
“In Tbilisi the theatres of Rustaveli, Marjanishvili and Griboedovi have been repaired. The Tbilisi Opera and Ballet theatre is going to be really grand. Tbilisi concert hall, Telavi theatre and several regional theatres have been repaired and now this incredibly magnificent Batumi Culture and Art Centre has been built”-declared Mikheil Saakashvili. The President stated that the renewal of Batumi contributes in increasing tourist numbers, that results in creating new jobs.
“A lot of things are being done. These people know better what the politicians speaking by the TVs do not know. This means, that much more people are having rest here, much more small enterprises may be launched. Levan Varshalomidze has done a very good job indeed”-declared the President.
According to the President most of the people working on the construction are Georgians. ”All these are being built by Georgians. At first when the construction began 80% of the people working over it were from Turkey. Now even if you look for Turkish workers you may not find them. Everything is done by the Georgians. We have learned how to do our own jobs best of all. This is really great achievement.”
Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, first lady of Georgia Sandra Roelofs and other officials also attended the opening ceremony together with the President. (Interpressnews)
Heavy rain and hail inflict damage on villages of Tsalka district
Heavy rain and hail have inflicted damage on six villages of Tsalka district in Southern Georgia`s Kvemo Kartli Region. The extreme weather has destroyed potato and grain crops in the villages of Chivtikilisa, Tamalabarakha, Taburi, Khachjovi, Rekha and Khando.
A special commission has been created toestimate the damage inflicted in the district. As reported, about 800 hectares of potato and grain plantations have been destroyed.
The hail also damaged dwelling houses in the villages.
As reported, the cattle and the poultry were also killed in the natural disaster.
The local population requires reimbursement from the authorities for the damage inflicted by the heavy conditions. (Rustavi 2)
Energy issues being discussed in Batumi
The development of the local energy market, regulation of energy distribution and protection of customers` rights will all be issues discussed over a 4-day period by representatives of the Energy Regulatory Commission of Georgia and their American counterpart in Georgia`s Black Sea town of Batumi.
Representatives of Energy Regulatory Commission of Kentucky, USA are attending the meeting.
The American specialists are expected to share their experience with the representatives of the Georgian side. (Rustavi 2)
