Ukraine modernizes its gas transit systems

At present, the cheapest and quickest way to transport natural gas from Asia to Europe is through Ukraine and its old soviet gas pipeline system. During a recent meeting between Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov and Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov certain agreements were reached. Ukraine is going to modernize its gas transport systems and to rehabilitate its gas storage system. At the same time, Ukraine continues to diversify its gas supply and is planning to construct a special factory for the means of receiving liquefied gas from Azerbaijan.
