Independent analyst Soso Tsiskarishvili thinks that the country’s administration knows what is European Neighborhood Policy but has lost sight of its own local neighborhood. So far Georgia was following the so called “active neutrality policy” regarding its neighbors Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was the correct policy because it allowed Georgia not to get involved in any of the conflicts among its neighbors. This neutrality helped Georgia to preserve the leading image in the region. Tsiskarishvili mentioned that currently the Georgian authorities are trying to move into the direction of a balanced policy which according to him is dangerous. The balanced policy according to him means pleasing either one or another neighbor which eventually means that neither of them is satisfied with relations. So the political analyst thinks that the neutral policy was more beneficial for Georgia and it should go in the same direction.
