Should the Rustaveli Theatre Company stop performing?
Rezonansi writes that after dismissal of art director Robert Sturua from Rustaveli Theatre the theatre company continues to protest the decision. One part of the company thinks that beginning with the new season no new performances should be played at the theatre while others do not agree. The famous Georgian movie director Giga Lortkipanidze says that it is impossible to stop playing performances at Rustaveli Theater--I welcome any kind of protest but it is not allowed to refuse performances.
“If they do not play in a performance they will be dismissed from the theatre. I have already offered my support for Sturua but I strongly believe that the theater company should continue its performances,” Lortkipanidze says.
Historian Gia Anchabadze says that the troupe should find another way to protest. “As far as I know, Sturua will leave Georgia and continue his activities abroad. Why they want to stop performances is unclear for me,” he said.
