Investments in Azerbaijani Economy

Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development, Shakhir Mustafaev, stated that during the last 20 years investments worth more than USD 100 bln entered the country's economy. More than half of this amount is FDI, a great part of this investments went into the energy sector. GDP annual growth reached 9%. GDP per capita increased three-fold and monthly salaries more than five times. There are increased internal investments as well. The budget deficit is permanently decreasing. The income of the population has increased and average pension was up by more than 6 times. The level of poverty decreased up to 9 % and since 2004 Azerbaijan exercises a positive balance in foreign trade turnover.
