Discrepancies over Survival Minimum

The National Statistics Office calculated that to survive physically a person in Georgia needs 155 GEL per month, whereas a family with four persons need 275 GEL. Compared with 2004 the survival minimum for one person or family of four has increased by more than 90%. Independent analysts challenge these official figures and think that a family of four would need more than 300 GEL to survive. This is the minimum for four persons not to die of starvation, receiving enough calories just to exist physically.
There are no answers to the question about money for medicine or utilities. During the recent increase of pensions up to 100 GEL there are many complaints that even official figures of survival minimum are not achievable and in reality pensioners are condemned to death.
