Azerbaijan plans military production

Azerbaijani defence minister Iaver Jamalov stated that during the first eight months of 2011 more than 30 new enterprises producing defense items have started functioning in the country. As a result of this the Azerbaijani army is receiving modern technological equipment and combat materials. In particular it produces sniper guns, hand grenades, anti tank mines, optical devices, different types of bombs and so on. In 2006, the Azerbaijani defence industry was manufacturing 175 types of arms products, whereas in the first eight months of 2011 it produced 615 different products.
