The Georgian statistical department published a list of the products produced by the local agricultural sector. It shows that Georgia grows enough corn and potatoes to satisfy its needs. This unfortunately cannot be said about wheat – the production of this product is not satisfying the needs of the country and it imported around 800,000 ton in 2010 as locally only 48,000 tons was produced. Officials involved in the agricultural sector are very optimistic about a new hybrid form which according to them increased the corn harvest.
