The notorious Russian chief sanitary doctor, Gennady Onishenko, who ordered the embargo of Georgian products, has already invited Georgian entrepreneurs to apply for permits again. However after the final WTO agreement was reached, Onishenko stated that “Russia’s entry to the WTO does not automatically mean Georgian wine and mineral waters will enter the Russian market.” He said that currently Russia is considering Sarajishvili's application to sell cognac and there are negotiations by Borjomi mineral waters as well. The Georgian government is skeptical about Georgian products entering Russia, and this is creating confusion for Georgian businesses in the alcohol and mineral waters industries and for Georgians overall.
