PM Gilauri stated that initially the Georgian government had planned to sell shares of certain state owned companies the international stock exchanges but due to the unstable and hard situation on those exchanges the government has changed its mind and will not start selling shares at the moment. One of the biggest assets the shares of which Georgia was thinking of selling, is the natural gas pipeline north-south owned by the Georgian oil and gas corporation which transits Russian gas to Armenia. Some years ago Georgia was prepared to sell the pipeline to Russia's Gazprom. But due to US interference Georgian leaders backed away from the deal.
