Russia radio locater in Azerbaijan

Russian radio locater functioning in Gabal, Azerbaijan is serious strategic object for Russia abroad. As newspaper Kommersant reports Azerbaijan asks for an increasing price for the lease from USD 7 mln annually up to USD 15 mln. Moscow is categorically against paying this and is planning to send a special group of negotiators to Azerbaijan in the near future. Russia reports that the lease term is from 2012-2025. Anatoly Serdukov stated that Russian plans to modernize radio locaters in Gabal.
