Wine exports increasing

The National Statistics Office has announced that in 2011, revenues from wine exports reached $54 million USD, almost 38% higher than in 2010.
In 2006, Russia placed an embargo on Georgian products, closing access to the largest market for Georgian wine. Georgian winemakers have responded by seeking to create globally-competitive brands and diversify the export markets for their products.
The Russian government has recently proposed lifting their embargo on Georgia.
