Georgian population not saving

According to a report from the World Bank, 33% of Georgian adults have a bank account but only 1% of the population has a savings account. In overall level of savings compared to GDP, Georgia has a very low ranking – the lowest in the region.
The total amount of savings in Georgia in 2008 was 939 million GEL; in 2009 it grew to 1.4 billion GEL, but in 2011 it crashed to only 509 million GEL.
