Independent analysts have observed that the winter tourist season in Georgia was not successful, mostly due to natural conditions. Snow this winter was late to arrive and melted early, resulting in an abbreviated skiing season. Tourism is a priority for Georgian state authorities. Though official figures have not yet been published, observations carried-out by tourism analysts suggest that this year the winter season was not as successful as it was predicted to be. Winter tourism is mainly targeted at foreigners and unfortunately their numbers were far short of this year's expectations.
