UNM, Georgian Dream reveal pension platforms

The United National Movement and the Georgian Dream coalition have both released plans for their vision of pension reform.
The administration has already pledged to increase the lowest pensions to 110 GEL in September, while Georgian Dream has promised to more than double the existing retirement allowance, to 220 GEL. The lowest pension rate is currently 55 GEL (approximately $33 USD). The pension for disabled persons is 75 GEL ($47 USD), while for retired persons it is 100 GEL.
Pensioners make up an important segment of voters – currently, there are approximately 700,000 retired persons in Georgia.
Since the Rose Revolution, the minimum pension has increased seven times.
