Russia to contribute to Zemo Larsi renewal

Expansion work on the Zemo Larsi border crossing will also be undertaken by the Russian government, in an effort to facilitate the intensification of trade between Armenia and Russia, via Georgia.

Zemo Larsi had been closed by the Russians in 2006, but at the request of the Armenian government Georgia re-opened the border. The checkpoint is the only land connection between Russia and Armenia.
