According to the National Statistics Office, there were 718,000 sheep and goats in the country in 2011. In 2010 this number was 845,000. The same decrease is being observed by analysts in the first five-months of 2012. There are different reasons that explain this. Georgia has exported several of these animals in the past years, and second factor has to do with winter and the subsequent frosts. There is a lack of veterinarians and accordingly the appropriate measures for treating sheep.
