Banking sector activities increase

The banking sector gains in Georgia have increased considerably recently. The banks have currently received many gains from the collaterals of bad loans. Analysts estimate that by such means the amount of assets received by the banks from the collaterals will reach several hundred million USD. Recently President Saakashvili openly criticized banks for that and demanded that they reconsider their strategies. Some analysts and politicians however challenge the position of the president labeling it as merely a pre-election campaign.
