Georgian prospects of becoming aviation transit country

More and more passengers travel via Georgian airports. In 2011, nearly 1.3 million people used Georgian airports. The numbers of foreign air carriers are also increasing in Georgia. Already there are thirty air carriers serving Georgia today. Georgian airports host different types of airlines. The Georgian aviation industry is carrying out the modernization of its facilities, investing in its airports and various infrastructures. Some experts suggest that Georgia’s geographical location provides good prospects for Georgia to become a major hub of international transit flights. But for that several reforms must be undertaken, these include airport tariffs.
