Ministry of employment begins registration of unemployed people

Newly appointed PM Vano Merabishvili, together with the President Mikheil Saakashvili has established a new ministry of employment. The first step of the new ministry was to register all unemployed people in the country. Some have criticized this move saying that this is the obligation of the National Georgian Statistics Department. Director of Statistics Department Zaza Chelidze stated that there are different figures. The Statistics Department shows the figures of real unemployed people, whereas the numbers of those looking for job is much higher. Chelidze mentioned that they make only an approximate estimation and they do not have data on every single family and the unemployed. Therefore we have no names or the professions of the unemployed. The ministry of unemployment will obtain the data in detail.
