Ukraine among the top trade partners of Georgia

The biggest trade partner of Georgia in the first half of 2012 remains Turkey with a turnover of $741 million. Second comes Azerbaijan at $660 million; third is Ukraine with $341 million and fourth Germany at $325 million. Overall, in the first half of 2012 Georgia’s foreign trade balance reached $4.8 billion, which is 17 % higher than the same period last year.
However, export greatly lags behind import and the difference is increasing. In the first half of 2012, export increased by 10% and reached $1.14 billion, but import also increased by 19% and reached $3.725 million.
