Vano Merabishvili to dismiss Gia Baramidze?
Kvela Siakhle writes that according to recently released information, new Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili, was going to fire the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia and State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration from his post while working on new ministers’ cabinet issue. However, Merabishvili resisted in making this decision after receiving information that Baramidze will be on the election list and reportedly he will be a majoritarian MP candidate from the ruling party. If Baramidze were to get involved in the election campaign, he will have to leave his post as the law forbids officials to participate in elections campaign.
Was Merabishvili really going to dismiss Baramidze? Natia Chikovani, Baramidze’s advisor in public relations commented that this is just a rumour and the minister continues his duties as usual.
“I have just heard this rumour. The minister continues his duties and he is attending an EU summit in Brussels. As for his possible candidacy for majoritarian, nothing has been decided yet,” Chikovani said.
