Irakli Alasania: Georgia will have a new PM, I promise
Iraklia Alasania stated in his interview with Asaval-Dasavali, that after October’s parliamentary elections, Georgia will have a new prime minister and this will be Bidzina Ivanishvili. In addition, Alasania said that the National Movement will be the minority in the next parliament. “This is our goal and everyone sees that thousands of people have been helping us reach it,” he added.
Alasania claims that the president and his allies will not manage to rig the elections as millions of people are against him and are supporting the opposition coalition.
Alasania explains that justice will be restored as soon as they come to power. At the same time, he states that justice will not be fully restored without a thorough investigation into those people who have violated law. Alasania promises that each case will be re-investigated. He also says that those people who are political prisoners will be released as soon as their innocence is confirmed.
“I promise that everybody will appear in front of a judge– first Saakashvili, Merabishvili and their allies. They will be held accountable for their violations,” he says.
Former chair of State Audit may appear in elections top list from ruling party
Former chair of the State Audit Office, Levan Bezhashvili, became the personal representative of the Georgian President in Kakheti last week, Rezonansi writes. Since president’s decision, information was released stating that Bezhashvili will be a majoritarian candidate in Sighnaghi and the first number on the election list of ruling National Movement.
This information has not yet been confirmed by the authorities. MP Pavle Kublashvili says that it is too early to speak about the elections list and the candidates. “It is too early to speak about it. We do not know even the date of elections. Soon everything will be known,” he answered.
Georgian Dream leader Manana Kobakhidze sais that if Bezhashvili will be a candidate from ruling party this will be a prove that State Audit Office (former Chamber of Control) was not impartial. “As it seems former head of State Audit Service had his political goals,” she says.
