Alasania is sure that he will defeat Akhalaia.

As Irakli Alasania one of the leaders of the Georgian Dream coalition said the election campaign is fully underway, Rezonansi reports. Practically every day Georgian Dream has seven or eight rallies around the region. Youth groups are being mobilized. The situation in Zugdidi is especially complicated, Alasania stated, adding that the population there must choose between unfulfilled promises over the last eight years or choose something new and realistic. Alania went on to say that Zugdidi is a dead end because no promises given before the previous election have been fulfilled.

Alasania wants to debate UNM candidate for Parliament Roland Akhalaia .Alasania stresses that he never defines his political opponent as his enemy: "Our enemy is poverty. The citizens of Zugdidi must make a choice in who to trust. Who is in the future and who is in the past. Zugdidi must take responsibility for the unification of Georgia and Abkhazia so we need a strong Zugdidi region", Alasania stated.

The National Democracy Institute (NDI) will publish its election campaign poll findings next week, Rezonansi reports. The head of the NDI in Georgia, Luis Navarro urged the United National Movement and opposition parties to better communicate their political platforms with the public. Here are some comments from several public figures.

Nana Kakabadze (human rights protector): "As far as I can see, NDI polling is very far from reality. The election outcome is difficult to forecast."

Misha Tavkhelidze (journalist): "I cannot tell you in advance what the polling will show, but I have no reason not to trust surveys conducted by NDI. Therefore, I think this poll will be fair and adequate as other surveys."

Davit Magradze (poet): NDI and IRI are very large research institutions, but [United] National Movement is paying for these polling research. I would like to ask Navarro to carry out a poll on how many people trust his research."
