Demographic problems in Georgia
Tuesday, October 2
The speed of population growth in Georgia is lower than in the neighboring countries. So regionally, Georgia's share of the population is going down. In 2003, the Georgian population share in the region was 27.7% in 2011 it became 26.4%. The Georgian population is much older than the populations of neighboring countries. The average age of Georgian population becomes 1 year older in every three years. The population of over 60-65 is increasing. The birth rate is not high compared with Azerbaijan and Armenia. There are no efficient programs supporting young families and the birth of the babies. The quantity of young Georgian women working and therefore delaying the creation of families and giving birth has increased due to unemployment. Many young men leave the country in search of jobs. All these create problems in the country.
