EU ambassador meets with the Minister of Environmental Protection

A meeting between the Georgian Minister of Environmental Protection Khatuna Gogaladze and the EU Ambassador to Georgia Philip Dimitrov was held on November 8th.
Gogaladze expressed appreciation for all of the EU's past efforts in helping Georgia with its environmental issues.
Future possible organizational changes in the structure of the Ministry were discussed at the meeting. The necessity of institutional strengthening, capacity building, and current and future projects were also discussed.
It is expected that signing the EU-Georgia Association Agreement will bring enhanced cooperation between Georgia and the European Union in the field of environmental protection. It is also expected that signing the EU-Georgia Association Agreement will bring benefits to citizens and businesses in Georgia, including improved public health, preserved natural resources, increased economic and environmental efficiency, as well as the use of modern, cleaner technologies that will contribute to more sustainable production patterns.
The Minister stated that all of this will require closer cooperation with the EU Delegation office.
Dimitrov expressed willingness for closer cooperation.
