Analysts suggest that this year, Georgia will receive a good citrus harvest. During previous years, the country has had problems organizing good marketing policies for its citruses. This time, specialists suggest that export opportunities will increase. Last year only 11,000 tons of Georgian citruses were exported. This year they predict that the figure will increase by four times. The major area of producing citruses in Georgia is Adjara, Guria, Samegrelo and Abkhazia. Abkhazia however is not controlled by Georgia. Its produce of citruses is mainly exported to Russia, whereas Georgian citruses are shipped to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Central Asia.
