The Azeri parliament ratified the Azeri-Turkish agreement on the trans-Anatolian gas pipeline. This project envisages transporting Azeri gas via Georgia into Turkey and further into Europe. The length of the project of the pipeline will be more than 2000 km. Part of this gas will be used by Turkey and the rest will be transported further into European destinations. The project was initiated in 2011. Today, Azerbaijan transports gas to different directions in the pipelines. One is running through Georgia – Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum. The TANAP project is in fact competing with the NABUCCO project, which is unlikely to be implemented at all.
