Georgia celebrates St. Barbara Day
St Barbara Day was celebrated on December 17 with a service church service. Barbara who died for her Orthodox belief in the beginning of the fourth century is considered a patron of children. The relics of St. Barbara are kept at the St. Vladimir’s Cathedral in Kiev and they are believed to commit miracles.

Inclement weather across Georgia
Heavy snow has fallen throughout Georgia. Traffic movement has been impeded at Gombori Pass. No trailers, semi-trailers and buses with more than 30 seats are allowed to move across the pass. Traffic limitations have also been imposed on the Gudauri-Kobi section of the road and at the Jvari Pass, while Bakurtsikhe-Tbilisi highway and Rikoti-Nakerali Passes are opened for all kinds of vehicles.

MIA increases number of patrol police vehicles and officers
The Minister of Internal Affairs Irakli Gharibashvili has increased its car park and the staff police crews so that they will patrol not only on central highways, but in every district and street.
The patrol police officers, who were dismissed in the period of previous government, have been also returned to their positions.

Project Russian-Georgian Dialogue underway in Tbilisi
The Project – Georgian-Russian Dialogue for Peace and Cooperation kicked off on December 17 at the Caucasian House. The project will continue until December 24.
8 Russian and 8 Georgian journalists participate in the Project aimed at increasing awareness of Georgian and Russian young professionals in Georgian-Russian relations and creating a cooperation platform between them.
During one week journalists will meet with the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Office of the State Minister for Reintegration; they will also meet with NGOs, experts and the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Georgia for Relations with Russia – Zurab Abashidze.
In the framework of the given project, Caucasian House has already hosted Russian political scientists and Russian human rights protectors. Currently, journalists are visiting Georgia and at the end of the year the visit of economists from Russia is planned.
