500 GEL fine for cutting down fir-trees

Liberali reports that the Georgian Ministry of Environment Protection strengthened its control over the illegal cutting down of fir-trees. The ministry encourages the Georgian population to restrain from selling or buying the trees for New Year to preserve Georgia's natural fir-groves.

Minister of Environment Protection Khatuna Gogaladze said the fine for cutting down one fir-tree will be 500 GEL, while in the case of cutting down several – the violators may face criminal charges.

Gogaladze advised people to buy fir-trees in special pots to later transplant the trees in soil and protect the nature.



Is there a need for the president and PM to meet?

PM Bidzina Ivanishvili has expressed his readiness to meet the president while speaking at a press conference. “It should not be only a formality. If the state business needs it, why not,” the PM said. Ivanishvili also mentioned that he has twice met representatives from the previous government, as well as the head of the national bank and the talks turned out to be very fruitful.

Is there a need for the president and PM to meet and can it bring about any results Rezonansi asked public.

Constitutionalist, Avtandil Demetrashvili, thinks that the president and PM should meet as this is required for establishing cohabitation. The meeting should be prepared properly and a list of the key issues needs to be created, so it can bring some substantive results.

Singer Vakhtang Tatishvili says there is no need for Saakashvili and Ivanishvili to talk, as Georgia does not have a president any more. “I have signed the petition requesting the president’s resignation,” he says.

The chair of the Union of Artists, Davit Okitashvili, said there is no point is arranging the meeting and it will end without any particular agreements. He says Ivanishvili will try to discharge the tension in the country and therefore expressed his readiness to meet Saakashvili.



Gela Nikolaishvili: Society will never accept UNM leadership

Lawyer, Gela Nikolaishvili told to newspaper Akhali Taoba that government has to be extremely organized to make sure they do not disappoint the people. However, even if people become frustrated with the Georgian Dream, this will not give any guaranties for success to the United National movement. “People will start to support a brand new political entity, which will soon appear. No one will ever wish to see the Saakashvili regime restored in Georgia.”
