According to UNFPA data, 13% of the Georgian population spends $1.25 dollars per day. In Armenia only 4 percent of the population spend this little money, in Azerbaijan and Russia only 2 percent. 13 percent of the Georgian population is more than half of a million people. However, many Georgian analysts think that the poverty level in Georgia is higher. The official existing minimum in Georgia is around 85 USD. An ordinary pension is around USD 70. So, pensioners if they do not have somebody’s support are doomed to be hungry.
