For the last several years automobiles have been Georgia’s main items in the export market. Georgia is not producing cars so mainly it is involved in the re-exporting of vehicles made in Europe, US, Japan and Korea. Most cars are re-exported to Armenia, Azerbaijan and other central Asian countries. The next item is ferroalloys produced entirely in Georgia; then come fertilizers, followed by ore and hazelnuts. In the last few years there has been a very low export volume of alcohol beverages and mineral waters. However, Georgia hopes that starting this year, the volume of exported agricultural products will increase considerably– especially if the country re-establishes trade relations with Russia.
Georgia’s main import group is oil and oil products followed by the automobiles, wheat, and pharmaceutical goods.
