Government of Japan provides project for Improvement of Medical Equipment for Guramishvili Pediatric Clinic in Tbilisi within the Framework of “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects”

Project for Improvement of Medical Equipment for Guramishvili Pediatric Clinic implemented within the framework of “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects” of the Government of Japan was ceremonially opened on January 25 in Tbilisi.
Hiroki Tokunaga, Charge d'Affaires ad interim, representatives of official and local authority and members of Guramishvili Pediatric Clinic attended the ceremony.
The Grant Contract of the above-mentioned project was concluded on January 18, 2012 between the Embassy of Japan and Guramishvili Pediatric Clinic aimed at improving the environment of medical service in Tbilisi by providing medical equipment and medical furniture. The budget scale of this project is 96,466 USD.
The “Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security Projects” (GGP) provides assistance to relatively small projects implemented by municipalities, medical institutions, as well as NGOs and aims at improving the living standards of Georgian people. It applies to projects in the field of public health, education, social protection, environment and poverty reduction. Since 1998, one hundred and twenty-two GGP projects have been financed in Georgia totaling 10,509,919 USD. The size of Japan’s Official Development Assistance to Georgia has reached over 363 million USD, covering a wide spectrum of areas such as improvement of economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors, culture and human resource development.
