After winning the elections this past October, the Georgian Dream coalition has suspended several countrywide projects that experts deem as adventurous, wasteful and non-realistic. These projects were pushed forward based on one person’s decision and without consulting civil society at large. One of the projects included the construction of the MtkvarHesi hydro power station which broke ground in November 2009 and was highly promoted by the UNM. The power station was scheduled to be finished by 2015 and cost $65 million USD. Currently, implementation of the project has been temporarily suspended so it is not yet clear whether it will continue or not.
