The NABUCCO project, which envisaged the transportation of the Caspian region’s natural gas to Europe, remains on the paper. Some European parliament members blame Azerbaijan in failing to ensure the provision of the NABUCCO pipelines with enough natural gas. Azeri Parliament vice-speaker Valekh Aleskerov challenges this position, stressing the Azeri side is ready to provide the project with the necessary natural gas together with other possible players, while Europe should provide political support to this process. The NABUCCO project envisages providing Europe with pre-Caspian natural gas via Georgia, Turkey and the Balkans. The consortium unites six companies from Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Germany.
