In the research carried out by The Economist magazine, Georgia ranked 93rd in its level of democracy in 2012. In 2011, Georgia held the 102nd position. Some analysts attribute such progress to the results of the Parliamentary Elections held in October of 2012, where the oppositional Georgian Dream coalition managed to gain the victory. Georgia’s neighbors Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan received lower scores.
