Pension less than existing minimum

Starting April 1, Georgian retirees will receive GEL 125 per month and from September 1 this year, pensioners are to receive GEL 150– equal to the current survival minimum. Analysts calculated that GEL 125 will be enough to receive sustainable nutrition for the pensioners for only 18 days. This does not include communal charges, medicine and other benefits. So, the government plans to increase pensions from this September up to GEL 150 which is equal to the existing minimum. However, this figure needs to be properly adjusted because the previous United National Movement (UNM) administration was not honest and realistic when it fixed GEL 150 as an existing minimum. In reality it should be over GEL 200.
