Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway construction underway

The Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan has announced that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line will begin functioning in 2014. Delays to construction occurred this winter due to severe weather conditions. Construction on the project began in 2008 and when completed will significantly improve transport connections between the South Caucasus and Europe.
