The Georgian Dream promised during the election campaign that serious efforts will be taken to stabilize the situation in the agricultural sector by assisting farmers and promoting their activities, establishing new markets, encouraging the export of products and satisfying the local needs of population with natural products. The breakthrough in relations with Russia which resulted in the reopening of the Russian market for Georgian wine and mineral waters was indeed a serious achievement of the country’s new administration. In addition, Georgian fruits and vegetables will also be available in Russia in the near future. Special programs started that provide farmers with a serious amount of financial assistance through vouchers to cover their needs: buying agricultural machinery, fertilizers, seeds and so on. The Ministry of Agriculture keeps the recent developments under strict monitoring control and most of the farmers are quite happy with the situation in the country.
