State strategy for moving to digital broadcasting to be worked out by the end of the year
Liberali reports that Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) with the support of the Open Society - Georgia Foundation introduced a strategy for moving to digital broadcasting. The document was discussed at a presentation attended by the government, NGOs and media.
The need for making relevant steps was highlighted and the necessity for intensifying the activities of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Georgian National Communication Commission for the creation of policy on digitalization in the country.
From June 17, 2015 any alternative broadcasting in Georgia will be suspended. Director of IDFI, Giorgi Kldiashvili, said due to lack of time the process of digitalization should be intensified, thus the active engagement of the state is needed.
The representative of the Department of Communication and Information Technologies of the Ministry of Economy said that the work on the strategic document is underway and by the end of the year Georgia will have a state strategy on digitalization.
