The Tehran Trade Industrial Chamber announced its desire to establish intense trade relations with its neighboring countries, in particular, with Armenia. Around 100 Armenian and 60 Iranian companies and businessmen participated in the Armenian-Iran business forum recently held in Erevan. Iran is considering the further increase of its trade and transit operations in Armenia. Armenia could become a good partner for Iran in terms of transiting its goods in to/out of CIS countries. Currently, Iran-Armenian trade turnover is more than $300 million USD. However, the parties plan to double this figure. Iran has invited Armenian businessmen to enter Iran and start businesses there. Eventually it should be considered that the increase of trade between Iran, Armenia and other CIS countries will increase the significance of Georgia as a transit route of such cooperation.
