In the first half of 2013 approximately 260,000 Russian visitors entered Georgia. Some years ago Georgia abolished visa requirements for Russian citizens, on one condition: that Russian citizens entering Georgia should not have visited Georgia’s breakaway territories beforehand. However, the Georgian parliament wants to relax this restriction.
Generally Russians are easy-going tourists and the middle-aged and older generations still vividly remember excellent times spent in Georgia during the Soviet period. Thus Russian tourism in Georgia is expected to increase even more.
