The long-term economic strategy is being intensively worked upon by a team of think-tanks under the supervision of the Ministry of Finances of Georgia. The experts predict that the full-ranged strategic plan for the development of the Georgian economy will be ready before the upcoming presidential elections in October 27, 2013. Some economic analysts however argue about the necessity of such a long-term plan. Rezonansi newspaper published the opinion of economic analyst, Giorgi Ghaghanidze, who suggested that the annual plans for economic development of the country should be developed for now as opposed to over the next several years. “What should we predict for 2020? We cannot predict it now,” Ghaghanidze said suggesting the example of the Irish model.
