The Environment Pollution Monitoring Research has shown that in many cities in Georgia air pollution is very high. In particular, the concentration of dangerous substances in the air is higher than is normal. For instance, in Tbilisi it is 3.3 times higher than it should be. Among the reasons for this are the number of obsolete automobiles on the roads, a badly regulated public transport system, lack of traffic lights, poor roads, cutting down trees in parks, etc.
