Head of Georgian wine agency denies counterfeit products
Friday, August 9
Levan Davitashvili, head of Georgia's national wine agency, said that fears of the Russian sanitary authority Rosportebnadzor regarding counterfeit Georgian alcohol products were unjustified.
Rosportebnadzor recently suggested that much of Georgia's alcohol beverage production is unregulated. Davitashvili denied this and said that Georgian regulations for the production of alcoholic beverages are as strict as Russia's.
Davitashivili said that Georgian brandy is expected be on the Russian market by late autumn or early winter. Georgia is expected to export approximately 5 million bottles of wine in 2013, mostly for New Year celebrations. (Hvino News)
