During the Georgian-Russian war in August 2008 the latter barbarically bombarded Borjomi-Kharagauli forests, destroying more than thousand hectares of the territory. The fire lasted for almost 25 days. Although, the state did not do much in this direction, the forest itself has started regeneration and there are the clear signs of green areas appearing in the places of the disaster.
