According to the official dates of the Tourism Administration, in the first six months of 2013, more than two million tourists have visited Georgia. This is almost 30% higher compared to the same period last year. An increase in tourists from Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Israel and Armenia has also been observed. The tourism administration expects that Georgia will host up to 5 million tourists by the end of this year. Some independent analysts, however, challenge this figure saying that Georgia’s new government follows the practice of its predecessor and exaggerates the number of visitors. They also point out that the hotel prices in Georgia are much higher compared to the services they offer.
