The Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP) partners will select a contractor for the pipeline's construction after September 2013, Hurriyet newspaper reported on Thursday. The newspaper cited Kenan Yavuz, head of Petkim Petrochemical.
According to Yavuz, the choice of the gas pipeline's final route is almost complete. Regarding the company that will supply pipes for the project, Yavuz stated that some 28 proposals have been received from various companies, nine of which are Turkish.
"Some two million pipes will be used in the construction of the TANAP project. We intend to order them in the second half of 2014." Yavuz stated.
The TANAP project envisages transporting gas from the Shah Deniz oil field in Azerbaijan to Europe via Turkey. The initial capacity of the pipeline is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters per year. About six billion cubic meters of gas will be supplied to Turkey and the rest to Europe. (Trend)
