Georgia 72nd according to the Global Competitiveness Index

According to the rating of the Global Competitiveness Index 2013-2014 of the World Economic Forum, Georgia holds 72nd place among 148 countries. Georgia’s performance is 5 points better than last year. In 2012-2013, Georgia was 77th, whereas in 2011-2012 it held 88th position. Georgia has good performance in starting business, quantity of state regulations, tax burden, protection of investments, etc. Georgia’s failures include its poor anti-monopoly policy, small number of exporters, cooperation between the universities and business, protection of copyright, and property rights and so on. The performance of some other countries is as such: Azerbaijan runs 39th, Turkey – 44th, Kazakhstan – 50th, Russia – 64th, and Ukraine – 84th.
