Import duty may be lifted on raw tobacco and tobacco products

Zurab Tkemaladze, Chairperson of the Field Economy and Economic Policy of Parliament, has proposed a legal initiative to lift import duties on raw tobacco and tobacco product until January 1, 2015.

As the MP explained, the 12% tax rate on tobacco product imports has been in effect since July 1, 2013. He said that the 12% tax rate is unfair for tobacco importers.

The MP proposed the change to the tax code at the request of DG Trade, Holding BULGARTABAC and European Commission. (InterPressNews)
